| LeClaireRail.com covers a relatively specific subject in one local area, with the purpose being to gather together a shoebox full of railroad photos taken by a young railfan during the 1950's. Most were taken with a 1940's-era Kodak box camera so quality varies quite a lot. If you happened on to this websight looking for high-resolution photos, high horsepower diesel locomotives, articulated steam power, double-stack container trains or Amtrak it's not the place to be. Edwardsville, Illinois was a fascinating place to be in the 1950's for a kid that liked trains ---- 4 railroads, steam, diesel, electric, a railroad yard, 2 small engine service areas, 3 stations and an interlocking tower. The C&NW trains running through on the L&M and the Illinois Central passing through Glen Carbon added further to a railfan's interest. |

Illinois Terminal SD39's when new, the Nickel Plate's #759 on the Golden Spike special, and current 2003 photos of the Norfolk Southern and Union Pacific are now included.
